Stepping into 2021
Wow. 21 years into the 21st century.
In some ways it really feels like the future; in other ways it seems like we’re still stuck here in the present, as usual. Lol! Looking back on the last 365 is quite the exercise given all that we’re going through right now. And I have to say, focusing on my creative goals was really, really tough.
Definitely didn’t hit all of the writing and career benchmarks I targeted for 2020, But I’ve got a few things to be proud of:
2020 Resident Playwright with Chicago Dramatists
2020 Semi Finalist at the Eugene O’Neill Music Conference
First trip to the Sundance Film Festival (it was amazing!)
Wrapped Production on HIVE, an indie sci-fi series (still pushing through post though)
Began development of NightQueen, an afro-surreal performance suite with support from Prop Thtr and The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
and
I am a proud 2021 Creative Capital Awardee
So I’ve got plenty of gratitude. And I hope 2021 brings all of us more joy, more opportunities for us all.
Can’t wait to share more! Happy New Year!!
