Casting Notice - Rock Opera Concert
THE PROJECT
Water Riot in Beta is a new rock opera-in-progress by Derek Lee McPhatter, music by Mike Przygoda. The story follows a group of activists in the near-future as they attempt to stage a rock concert as a protest of a new dam over Lake Michigan.
The creative team is casting one more role for the performance coming up Sept. 16th. This is a non-union opportunity. There is some flexibility with dates/rehearsals.
THE ROLE
Skutters – 20-something person of color, used to work in a warehouse, now they hack the system. Undocumented. Open gender, chaos energy, punk vibes. Tenor, Countertenor or Alto.

REHEARSAL SCOPE
· 4 Music Rehearsals + Final Dress Rehearsal at 2.5/3 hours each
· 1 Book Rehearsal - 1 Hr. - Zoom (read through of script) –
· 1 Staging Rehearsal - 1 hr. - On Site / Plus Fittings
· 1 Final Dress Rehearsal at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
· 1 Performance (on book, in character)

Rehearsals and Performances are shaping up like this:
· Sat 08/27 10AM - 1 PM
· Sun 08/28 10 AM - 1 PM
· Sat 09/3 10 AM - 1 PM
· Sun 09/04 2PM – 5 PM
· Sat 09/10/ 22 Final Dress – Time TBD
· Fri 09/16 Performance in the evening, call time TBD
Additional Dates
· Wed Aug 24 is a zoom check in, script read through. We know it’s short notice, so this is FYI.
· Thu 09 / 08 is our target date for staging, with 09.09 as an alternate time. So some flexibility here would be great.
